Torre la higuera lighthouse

Location: 37º 06’N / 06º 34,1’W. Active

Located on the beach of Matalascañas, in the municipal area of Almonte, within the Doñana National Park and close to the Tower of la Higuera, a watchtower built in the 15th century to defend the coastline.

Visits: only exterior.

Description: The lighthouse has been built recently and belongs to the Huelva Port Authority. It was built in the 1990s to light up the long navigable stretch between Huelva and the mouth of the Guadalquivir. The building is a white triangular prism with a lantern at 23 metres in height, and its light reaches 20 nautical miles.
